Avant-garde Folk Club is the first step to develop an international centre for contemporary ethnical music in the Armenian capital Yerevan. Besides the Armenian Navy Band, under the direction of Arto Tuncboyaciyan, numerous Armenian formations - the Vache Hovzepyan Duduk Quintet, the New Folk Formation Mihr, a mixed choir of the conservatory of Yerevan with Komitas interpretations - played on the occasion of the opening. For this occasion a 15 person delegation with international music journalists of important European daily and music newspapers, radio stations, internet portals (among others Volkskrant, TAZ, WDR, Batonga, Mondomix) as well as directors of European World Music and Jazz Festivals had arrived to Armenia, so that the event attracted great interest in the Armenian media, in the print- and audiovisual media of the Caucasian neighbouring countries and even in Europe.
